Rejoice, horror fans, for today is the birthday of Dario Argento, the legendary Italian director responsible for classics like Deep Red, Opera, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, and Suspiria. Argento has made some damn scary films, but his virtuosity doesn’t end at eliciting screams from the audience. He is a master stylist with a breathtaking command of color and light. The best way for me to celebrate the Maestro is to let his work speak for itself, so let’s celebrate his birthday with some of his most beautiful shots.
Thanks for celebrating Argento’s beautiful terror with me, fiends. Now go forth and be spooky.
